The Medical Data Analytic Centre (MDAC) successfully held annual Summer Elective Programme in July 2025, welcoming 20 students from both local and international institutions.

This year’s programme, conducted in hybrid mode, offered students an immersive experience in the field of medical data analytics and liver health research. Participants joined a wide range of academic activities, including:

• A guided hospital and MDAC tour
• Lectures on key research topics:
  • Cirrhosis and portal hypertension
  • Randomised controlled trials
  • MASLD and HCC prediction
  • Hepatitis B and liver fibrosis
  • Antidiabetic treatments in liver disease
• GI Journal Club discussions
• Participation in the MDAC data team meetings, gaining first-hand exposure to collaborative research discussions

The programme concluded with a reflection and wrap-up session led by Professor Jimmy Lai and Professor Grace Wong, highlighting the meaningful engagement and contributions from all participants.
